Reporting: Lead Façade Designer

We’re looking for a Façade Designer for creating, reviewing, and updating shop drawings primarily using AutoCAD. Experience/proficiency with Revit would be a plus. The position requires:

  • Associate degree or 2-year technical degree in mechanical, civil, or architectural engineering from an accredited institution or equivalent
  • 2+ years of technical experience in the Commercial Glazing Industry (drafting/take- off/engineering of curtain wall, storefront, etc.)
  • Passion for learning and attention to detail
  • Computer fluency and adaptability
  • Proficient in AutoCAD
  • Excellent time management and communication skills
  • Working knowledge of construction methods and materials
  • A self-starting, team-oriented work ethic

Our preferred candidate has two or more years of experience with 2D CAD drafting, metal and glass fabrication, and hands-on construction experience.

We expect the Façade Designer to collaborate with the Lead Façade Designer, engineers, and clients to design, layout and detail components and systems and to resolve design or other problems that arise. The Façade Designer will review and analyze specifications, sketches, drawings, ideas, and related data to assess factors affecting component designs, along with providing drafting services (shop drawings, fabrication drawings, etc.), rough engineering feasibility checks on the front end of projects, and other services upon request. Additionally, the Façade Designer will have the opportunity to participate in the general business ecology of Ryan Engineering (i.e., recommending improvements in practice and procedure, as well as in efficiency, accuracy, and profitability) to maintain our high standard of engineering ethics and professional documentation.

We are Ryan Engineering, a structural engineering firm based in beautiful Siloam Springs, AR. Our Building Envelope Division specializes in curtainwall and storefronts along with other specialized architectural elements, flood barriers, blast analysis, and drafting. Our firm employs 15 full-time employees with Professional Engineering licenses in all 50 states. We provide efficient, practical engineering services, fine-tuned to the unique requirements of each project’s scope, budget, and schedule. We offer competitive salaries and benefits, a friendly, enriching office environment, and a people-first workplace. We are located in Northwest Arkansas (NWA), an area nestled in the foothills of the Ozark Mountains and consistently one of the top-ranked — and most affordable — places to live in the U.S. NWA features numerous state parks, lakes, a world-class art museum, a major theater company, and a major concert venue. There are multiple Fortune 500 companies located in NWA, plus a wide selection of microbreweries, art spaces, food options, and music festivals — and to top it all off, NWA is home to the top-ranking school districts in the state. It’s a happening place, and we’re happy to call it home.

We work locally and across the country, providing structural engineering services for commercial, industrial, and municipal structures on projects ranging from curtainwall and storefronts, specialized architectural elements, flood barriers, and blast analysis to structural assessments and design for industrial facilities, mixed-use buildings, and offices. We look forward to hiring an exceptional Façade Designer to join in our tradition of providing vital engineering services to our clients.
